Posthuman – through Odesa’s raw, unfiltered lens

Videocity’s 2025/2026 cycle focuses on the Posthuman. Its interpretation in the October and November exhibitions is marked by violence and suffering due to the war in Ukraine. Andrii Sihuntsov explains this through the life experience of Odessa’s different generations – “a city characterised by eclectic resilience breaking with the post-Soviet era.” For him, posthumanism has a paradox – “even as we approach a posthuman horizon, our connection to humanity lies in our ability to suffer, endure and struggle with our transient bodies”.
