Mit Videocity zu Gast im Kunstfenster am Wolkenhof wird eine außergewöhnliche Ausstellung im öffentlichen Raum präsentiert.

Dabei werden kurze Videos von Österreichischen Künstler*innen zum Thema „Essen“ und dies grenzüberschreitend zum Nachbarland gezeigt.

Reflektiert werden dabei aktuelle Fragen zum Umgang mit dem Thema bei einer Landbevölkerung und einer Stadtgesellschaft. Insbesondere die Covid-Krisenerfahrung hat diese Auswahl der Werke geprägt. Zwei Video sind 2010, zwei während der Krise 2020 entstanden. Jene zuvor spiegeln für uns einen sozialen Umgang – anhand des Themas „Essen“. Auffallend hier: Tiere agieren als Stellvertreter*innen des Menschen. D.h., sie gönnen bzw. missgönnen dem anderen die Nahrungsaufnahme! Und es werden eher soziale Konstellationen, wie man sie in der Enge einer Mietwohnung oder bei der Missgunst von öffentlichen Büffets antrifft, aufgezeigt. Im Jahr 2020 sieht es ganz anders aus: Hier werden Pflanzen zu Stellvertreterfiguren. Ihre Eigenschaften bzw. die Situation, welcher sie ausgesetzt sind, erscheint paradigmatisch für menschliches (Fehl-)Verhalten, dass durch die Isolation in der Krise fehl gelenkt erscheint und krankhafte Auswüchse gebiert.

Videocity hat sein zweites Gastspiel auf dem Wolkenhof. Auch hier können Sie das Videocity-Experiment nachvollziehen – aussen ohne, und zeitgleich auf der Webseite der Gastgeber mit Tonspur. Das Ausstellungskonzept des Wolkenhofs inkludiert eine zeitgleiche Präsentation im WWW und vor Ort, im Fenster eines bäuerlichen Anwesens in Murrhardt.

Videocity visits the Kunstfenster am Wolkenhof and presents an unusual exhibition in public space. Short video works by Austrian artists are shown on the theme of "FOOD" across the border in the neighbouring country.

The exhibition will reflect on current questions about how rural populations and an urban society deal with this subject. The experience of Covid in particular has shaped this selection of works. Two videos were made in 2010, two during the 2020 health crisis. The earlier works reflect a social approach – on the basis of the theme of FOOD. It is striking that animals act as representatives of humans – they begrudge or begrudge the other person the consumption of food! And social constellations, such as one encounters in the confines of a rented flat or in the resentment of public buffets, are shown. In 2020, things look quite different. Here, plants become proxy figures. Their characteristics, or the situation to which they are exposed, appear paradigmatic for human (mis)behaviour that seems misdirected by the isolation in the crisis and gives birth to pathological excesses.
